The fun just never stops.

I once theorized that the new year can be summed up within its first 45 days.
If, after the first 45 days are done, and things don't look so good, you can pretty much write the year off, go back to bed, and stay there until the next year.

As it stands right now, I'm getting ready to go back to bed.

I've gotta take the car into the shop because (I hope) one of the muffler brackets is either broken or missing. The car makes a wonderful noise whenever I stop now...sounds like an elephant farting, if you ask me.

I called them earlier to see if they have any openings, but got no answer, so I'm just driving out there. Might sit there all day, but I've got nothing better to do.

Sigh...

Oh, and is it any wonder that the 45th day of the year is the ever-hated Valentine's Day? The Universe has a sense of humor, I've found...

Update: It was just the strap. Granted, that was an unexpected bill, but it wasn't a big one, thankfully. Sigh redux.

Dude, don't write the year off because of your car!
(Saturn, right? :P)

And trust me, you don't have to do anything about V-day as long as you make sure that every day is V-day *nods*
*manhug*

I heart my Saturn. :-D

And I just find it ironic that the 45th day of the year, the same day I figured out to be the cut-off date for determining a good or bad year, was the same as Valentine's Day.

The Universe has a sense of humour, after all. ;)

As long as you keep that sense of humor, my friend!

There are days, m'friend, that it ain't easy, but I try.

I've been known to make one or two people laugh when they really needed it. That's what matters most. :)

Sure, it ain't always easy, but like you said, whenever you can make someone laugh you'll feel better too.
And you can always bring a smile to my face *nods*

why limit yourself to 45? Let all 365 envelop you before you write the year off.

Sorry about the farty car. It'll get better.

Why 45 days?

It has to do with something I read awhile back. Basically, in America, the salary the average citizen takes home isn't theirs for the first 120 days of the year (I'm guessing at the number here)...that that money actually goes to pay for taxes.

After X number of days, then whatever you make is, basically, yours.

Given that perverse logic, I decided the same thing can be said about the year itself. I just like to be a bit less generous and give it less time to make up its mind. :-D

Okay. So I've spent the last couple of hours trying to figure this blog contraption out. JANE, GET ME OFF THIS CRAZY THING!

I'm with Guardiamoon. Personally, my year doesn't start until February 15th.

I though Sterling was smarter than this ... I've spent the last couple of hours trying to figure this blog contraption out ... how hard is it?! ;-)

But yeah, I think all of us here do have something against Feb 14!

Yeah, but I know why his year doesn't start until the 15th, and it's for reasons other than you might think. :)

hey, thats quite weird actually about the 45 day thing, cos I recently read somewhere that the best way to sleep was in multiples of 45 minutes!! So I reckon it ties in very well with your theory!! :-)

45 shmortyfive. There! LOL I'm glad it wasn't as bad as you thought it might have been.

Sterl...lolol. Hand hurt??

Rene, manhugs to Onie, nice. *nod*

GM (no, not General Motors), I agree on the 365.

Charles...lol...logical.

The first 45 days? That's all?
Out of 365 days you pick the first 45 to make that call? Wow - since my b-day falls within that time period that means I should have written off the last 13...

2006 was one I'd like to forget - 07's gotta be better...I just KNOW it!
